		Information Technology Strategy Client A $400 million supplier of specialty engineered products for the semiconductor and microelectronics industry. The company operated ten production facilities in seven countries. Each facility had it’s own information technology support staff and operated many different business applications. Business Issue The company had just assigned their first CIO in their history and charged them with building a consolidated, global Information Technology (IT) Division. Current IT operations were decentralized and reported to their local Plant Managers. The diversity of business applications was costly to maintain and were judged to be a potential barrier to the company’s overall business strategy. Solution Change Solution Group partnered with the CIO, and his newly formed management team, to develop a comprehensive IT Strategic Planning Process that included: A Global Information Technology Strategic Plan that defined the mission, strategy, critical success factors, and initiatives roadmap for the IT organization. A communication plan to involve all IT employees and key business stakeholders. A detailed operating plan to tie near-term department initiatives and budgets directly to the overall IT strategy. A governance structure and process to maintain IT alignment with business goals and priorities. Outcomes The IT Strategic Plan and the initial phases of implementation were completed within six months. The plan had been reviewed on a quarterly basis and updated annually. The CIO position has become accepted a key role within the company’s executive management team. The IT organization has become an integral part of the business and has transitioned into a global operation. Process and measures have been adopted to track the performance of the IT organization and its impact on overall business objectives and performance. back to Resources
